Ajax based with:
Fast and Intelligent chats retrieval through javascript calls to server files (refresh delay configurable per usergroup)

I believe your SQL server is getting to many hits and freezes. I tested this chat on a live test site and was getting the same dbe with only 12 members using it at one time. I again installed this on a few other sites with the same results. Its a server hog on shared hosting. Though this may differ for others.

In all seriousness, your host is probably VPS and is very strict. Change the refresh rates and DON'T allow unregistered/not logged in to be able to view it.
To the other guy that said he had "dbe" with 12 users, you might want to go to a better host. It uses AJAX, and I know it can cause some strain, but not from 12 people. HostGators.com is a good site that I use to host from and I have 200+ people on a dedicated box with 0 issues. On a VPS/Shared box from HG, I had no issues with 20-50 people on at a time.

this has nothing to do with the chatbox, this is your mysql database connection at your provider ... I got hundreds of those mails until I used mysqli parameter in config.php of vbulletin.
after upgrading to vb4.2.2 I can type in a message in the chatbox and hit enter or ok ... nothing happens, the text stays in the message field, but after reloading the site in the browser, the message has been postet ... anyone elso with that kind of behavior ? thanks
