Well pulling up the title issue, as I stated earlier, portfolio plus references, then I would hire otherwise they might as well hit the road. Everyone can start somewhere even if its something small like I did on my first job. Now my portfolio is well near 20+ clients (still need to update with newest clients) and 90% of them are return clients, the rest usually pay me to teach them about vb coding and styling which isn't hard but they find it to be.
Just in case you missed it again, Portfolio AND References = good hire. |

Here is a great post written by Princeton on the topic:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=113792 It should be stickied in the SR forums, but it also as an article... |

Is vb.org at least going to censure this bloke, It seems a little daft that he is still able to get customers from this site while he is being accused of something as serious as this.
He has accepted that he has taken the guys money, he has made no effort to return it other than a token $20 and yet he is still able to go about his business as he sees fit and ignore this thread. He has a sig directing you to his site where i can only assume he solicits work this in itself may be enough to convince some people of his trustworthyness. Are the staff at vb.org willing to turn a blind eye whilst its own members get robbed by another member? We understand that vB.org and its staff are in no way responsible for this guys actions but if when faced with a mountain of evidence and the fact that the guy has admitted taking the cash and doing no work for it you do nothing not even stopping his ability to procure customers via an advert in his sig perhaps you are accepting certain responsibilitys. Should this user have restrictions placed on his account that stop him being able to advertise his own site (so members from here dont go there to get robbed), there are a few more restrictions I think would be prudent for instance the ability to PM those asking coders to do paid work in the service forum, Is he able to solicit for work that way? This really is unacceptable, You must be able to see that by doing nothing you are complicit in the deceit and condoning his actions. Hi folks,
Wow, the story on this thread seems EXTREMELY familiar. The excuses are a little different though. Quote:

Ace is not the only person who has been duped by this Tim Yarbrough. I've yet to see any work done from him and have serious doubts about it. I'm NOT done with this. Tim: I want my money back or I want this work in my hands before midnight. |

I forgot to mention that I had also made a payment for the first instalment (50%) on the evening (German time) on September 28, 2006. It's now been 60 days since this relationship started with a promised completion time of "3-4 days".
I've not only lost money, but I've lost time and patience. As they say, Time is Money. I'm surprised further action from this community has not been taken. |

Andem the excuses he has given you are much much better than ones he gave to me. I just didn't even feel like posting them here. I have heard out of town to bank robbery, to assault to FBI raids.
And time is money, i have been waiting 6 months cos of the guy. You can't even give it to someone else with 300$ stuck with one guy. Its hard to trust people after this happens. And now it seems he does it to everyone, as if thats any consolation. Quote:
BTW: i actually did check on his portfolio before giving work to him. Not only was he an advanced coder(noobish on my part, i fell for his title a bit) he actually was a employee of inferno technologies at that time. knowing ZT is a class apart and would have recruited the best, another reason i selected the guy) 2 months later i found out he was removed from there. for whatever reasons i don't even want to conjecture. |

Allowing him to solicit business here only means more victims in his effort to pay back previous victims (indeed, if any effort is made at all).

I had a project a while back and he approached me wanting to do it. He gave me his phone # and I called him and he didn't even remember we had talked on here in pm's. I thought it kind of odd as he said he wasn't that busy and could probably start that same night or the next day. He seemed really pushy and I got a very uneasy feeling about him. I had already decided to not use him and he kept calling back and leaving messages and I knew I'd made the right decision. Of course the person that I did use never finished but at least never charged me anything up front. Tim wanted to charge me half up front. My suggestion to people is to get a phone number and talk to the coder and it will help you with your decision. It worked for me or either I'm just lucky...
I do know he contacts people to offer services and the admins should step in and keep him from doing this no matter what it takes. I'd do so on my site. |
