Add flashing envelope PM notification

A very simple template mod that's guaranteed to catch the users eye, see screenshot.

Is there any way to put the blinky right in front of the "Private Messages" line instead of above it?

Thanks for presenting another option. I think the reason the newpm.gif isn't showing in your attachment is because it's animated but I think it's easy enough to get what you are saying.

I am using a custom icon! in a custom way. Normally the members avatar shows on the right hand side of the Welcome box, when they receive new mail, this shows (its animated but you can't see it in the screenshot).

Mine works...kind of.

I altered the path just a bit so the image went in the images/misc folder and it appears....BUT it wont stop blinking even if I have no new PM's.

Very strange. I'd rather deal with forcing myself to look for new PM's than deal with a constantly blinking pm

The following condition will only display it if you have an unread PM. Make sure you have the if statements in your template surrounding your altered image path.

I installed this, but just out of interest, what forum software or site first made that flashing mail icon? It's been around for years!

I did it another way, but took the idea from this template mod, so am clicking Install. Thanks for the idea
