What I find interesting is the staff has articulated reason to believe we all think they are condescending morons with no tact and would get picked on.

from their point of view it is quite understandable as admins/mods etc would bear the brunt of any jokes,stay away from these subjects there should`nt be any troubles.

The point is, we really don't care about "their" point of view. Enforce the rules and quit the editorial comments that are not allowed to be debated and get deleted when someone tries to defend such an unneeded editorial comment.

Rule x exists. You broke it. We took x action according to rule. PERIOD.

That would relive pages of debate.

The time could be better spent by staff giving some of these hacks a cursory review. I have found too many lately that the security issues jump right out, but are in use. Go figure.

But hey, who needs quality, we got quantity, right?

I think you will find that talking negatively about the vB.org Staff is against the posting policy LOL - Interesting point no doubt though - and I'm sure we are not the only ones who agree.

Could be some of the funniest issues topics: premature closing of threads, unwarranted infractions doled out like welfare checks, little condescending comments made to the poster after their comment has been deleted, forced bans of legitimate Jelsoft Customers with valid vBulletin licenses, ect. etc. etc.... I find these things HILARIOUS actually - and I'm pretty sure I could write a fabulous storyline featuring some or all of the above laughables.

I do not see the request that staff act like professionals while running the board and leave their personal feelings out of posts while doing so as talking negatively.

I find it to be a means to an end that should have come a long time ago. You know, professionals talking to professionals? That's not too much to ask.

The personal editorial comments are unnecessary and lead to animosity. It's a catalyst to exactly what they want to avoid, confrontation.

Moreover, it escalates tempers, causing even more animosity, when someone replies to the commentary and then the moderator button is used as a means to have the last word when the conversation should have never begun to begin with.

I edited my post before you quoted :P -- But yes - I agree.

And I think tackling some of the issues you have talked on in the comic strip has potential to benefit all involved. And of course the main purpose of any comic is to make the readership smile and laugh. So in essence - poking fun at ourselves is a means to lighten the mood ((it's interesting to note, when people can be self-deprecating in a funny and light way - it often leads to an all-around embracing of sorts which makes the immediate surroundings a much better place to be in))

At anyrate - not to get into a too-deep philosophical mode - but yeah - I agree with you - a vBulletin comic could be instrumental in making the mood around here less stuffy.

And just briefly commenting on LYNNE's post - It seems funny to me that a thread could be closed because someone has gotten a wee bit off topic or whatever. I mean - we are on a DISCUSSION forum which does lend itself to discussion LOL

Hmmm - Perhaps this thread should have been posted in the Community Lounge, rather than feedback. But by posting it here, I think SHELLEY was basically asking if Members had put their time and energy and creativity into making a comic as suggested, would the thread by closed forthright as a lot of previous threads had been. And from the sense of it - it seems like depending on the topic, that such a comic would be closed or even deleted from public view, rendering all of the time and energy and creativity put into its creation a total waste of time. Hmmm... I suppose another interesting topic would be censorship LOL --- Creative people can laugh heartily at a comic which pokes fun of the "big webmaster" weilding the censorship whip over the mundane slaves.

Firstly it's not shelley's comic, it never was. it was my gift to you, a mere suggestion from a branded oinker in a sea of Paranoia to enduce and pull the community together and get people invlolved, heck maybe even staff. Even though on my part the offer of my time was genuine I wouldn't dedicate my time to something that the staff are clearly paranoid about and showing unseen negativity. Feel free to close this thread by thread creators request.
