Multiple account login detector (AE Detector)
Developer Last Online: Dec 2016
Mod of the Month winner! Top 10 most installed mods for vB3.6! Same plug-in found here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=107566 There are no differences as this plug-in works with both 3.5 and 3.6 versions of vBulletin. If you are like me and migrated from .threads, a common modification was an "AE detector", a simple mod that saved a cookie of a history of ids logged into on your site. If someone logged into more than one account, you got a PM letting you know that your site was being accessed from multiple accounts. Over the years this was very helpful in identifying users who were posting under multiple accounts (alter-egos!) and users who would return after being banned. You might be wondering why I don't use the vbcookie call - well, thats because on logout all vB cookies are cleared, so we need to store a cookie that is not effected by the login/logout process. New Installation 1. Add New Product with attached XML 2. Go to vBulletin Options -> AE Multiple Login Detection Settings and set your specific settings. Time to install: Easy - 2 minutes. Upgrade If you installed this as a Plug-in manually, you can delete that plugin and install this Product, just make sure to go into the Options and set them accordingly. I hope you find this useful and will click INSTALL if you use it; should it prove useful to enough people I can look at making this installation more automated without the need for edits and an Admin Options page. To upgrade you will want to reimport this XML file and edit your options accordingly. 1.0.3 ----- . Added a check to ensure that users weren't deleted when reporting violations . added htmlspecialchars_uni call to username Note: I am unable to get the call to construct_phrase with $vbphrase['multiplelogin_alert'] to work reliably, as such the $message variable is still set manually inside the plug-in and not via the phrase. If anyone has an idea of why this might not always work, I'm all ears. 1.0.2 ----- . Updated to include exclusion groups, users . Changed so PM is sent by ae sender id 1.0.1 ----- . Released as a Product (thank you PHPGeek2k3 for your help) . Added option to post to a forum versus send a PM (or both) . All settings moved into Admin Option 1.0.0 ----- Initial release. It's the option of checking the mod's version directly from your ACP (e.g. this one is 1.03). I recently went through all my installed mods and asked about it for the ones that don't have that option or the url is wrong.

In otherwords, you're requesting that these mod creators add the <versioncheckurl> to their mods, gotcha. You may want to specify that in the other threads so as to avoid confustion.

Guys,
I have had this plug-in installed onto my forum, can anyone tell me how I access the results or will I recieve a message in some way. Also, will this work only on new member registrations or with my existing users? Many thanks |

In the Options you tell it what you want it to do - send PMs to specified people or post. At first, PMs will do. If the forum gets busy, posting will be easier to keep track of.
It monitors all users that log in, new or not. |

Thanks for your help Videx.
My forum host installed this plug-in for me 36hrs ago and as yet I havent recieved a report via PM. I have over 3000 members and I know for sure many of them have multiple logins. I am trying to establish if either 1. The plug-in isnt working or 2. I have the settings incorrect, my settings are currently No 0 Yes 1 Administrator 1 5,6,7 These were the settings I found, I have not changed anything. |

I have never in my life heard of "forum host's" installing mods for someone (please elaborate). One of the reasons being, it's the forum admin that's going to have to figure out how to use the darn thing. Which often means reading back through hundreds of posts.
One of the things you'll find as you read through this mod is that for many of us it inexplicably actually doesn't work. Heck, just read through my own posts and you'll see that. But I should say it's working for me now. Also in one (or more) of my earlier posts I talk about how to test it. It's tricky. |

The company that hosts my forum also does the behind the scenes stuff for example installing plug-ins. I am the Admin (they just access via my account) when they need to do work.
Considering the plug-in has been live for over 72hrs now without any notifications I have to assume its not working or the settings are wrong. When I log in as Admin there are no reports on the PM system. I have limited skills on a keyboard myself and was hoping to save asking my host to look at it as it usually costs ???? |

I also have it installed and I set it up best to what I thought was right but again knowing and testing with members logging in with more than one nic on the same ip but nothing has came to me via PM or the forum I set it to post a Thread in.
Anyone else had this problem, care to share and help out others? |
