This hack is top notch! I love it, and so do my members that I've given access to it so far!
I'll be implementing it into our Member of the Week rotation as well, and setup our home page to display info from it shorty. One question that I have about it... While you can set the max image file size, when you try to upload an image that exceeds the threshold, there is no error notification that says your image wasn't accepted.. Did I miss something in the install, or is this on the 'to-do list' for this hack? Just curious, cause some of our members are not as 'internet saavy' as others and they don't understand why their image wasn't accepted.... It'd be nice to have a little note next to the upload option the user sees that lists their max filesize as well.... I've also tweaked the PHRASE's so that the various links show up as 'Member Garages' and 'Edit your Garage', etc... however, the tree structure that vBulletin uses in the top left to show you where you are in the structure of the forums still reads a vbGarage. I hope you don't mind that I'm changing all this, as I feel it's more comfortable for the users to personalize it slightly. I just couldn't find this one particular PHRASE anywhere... thoughts? Other than that, AWESOME HACK! |

We just upgraded our VB 3.0.0 install to VB 3.0.1 and then upgraded our VB Garage from 3.1.0 to 3.1.1. Everything seems fine when you're in as an administraor (except commenting is gone) but when you go in as a guest or anyone else, you are denied access to the vBGarage. In the admincp, we can give the usergroups' access to vbgarage and all of them still have it, however, under vboptions, the vbgarage option is no longer listed.
Any idea what could be wrong? |

Having the User's latest Garage uploads in the User Profile would be a touch IMO

Just an update. v3.2.0 is coming along nicely. There's much more AdminCP control over how vBGarage acts now. I'm also devising a variable template engine, which will sort of allow you to design HOW you want the users detail input to be displayed. The template will be populated by the users input, rather than having the user design the "template" themselves, as they do now.
I'm also considering making some of the variables more 'global', so you can call them rather easily from other portions of the site. For instance, if you wanted to call the "Latest Uploads" from FORUMHOME, etc. Though, this is secondary, at the moment. Oh, and there is definately going to be a need for database restructuring in v3.2.0. I'm hoping I can devise a "migration"-type script. Otherwise, there's going to be a little (read: repititious/tedious) work involved for the admin (read: YOU!). If anyone here is a SQL genius, and would like to help with this migration-script, shoot me a PM. I'm decent with SQL, but by no means do I know it inside and out (yet). |
