[/high] Ahh, that's better. <takes sip> There's nothing like Camomille for soothing the nerves. Thanks, Revan, for answering Michael's original question, btw ... lol. I'm no great designer/programmer by any stretch of the imagination, but I use both TextPad and Dreamweaver. Personally, I like them both because they're so different. It really just depends on what I'm doing at the time, how complicated the work is, or how impatient I am to get in and out quickly. One works better for some things while the other is best suited for other tasks. Sometimes my computer forgets its file associations and Notepad or Wordpad pops up for some reason. Usually, it's easier to go ahead with the change that way than it is to close that and open up something else. I've heard really good things about EditPlus, too, so I plan to give that a try sometime soon, too. |

This thread got WAY off topic, whoc ares who likes dreamweaver and who doesn't? why is everyone using a forum to argue personal preferences.
ANYWAY. i'm a moron and i used dreamweaver to mod a hack and it screwed everythign up. can anyone explain how to edit the files to UNDO whatever dreamweaver F*KD up or do i have to erase and reinstall my wh0ole damn site? of course, i didn't backup the files, well, i did, but they're corrupted now too... i've been trying so many things and messed up all my copies... can i edit the files and fix the crap dreamweaver did? dreamweaver is the devil. - inverted bleh, i fixed it, i just started over with functions.php and added all the hacks i have back from scratch. but to continue the question, is there a way to fix the errors dreamweaver produces??? |

I don't know for sure, but I think it has to do with the way functions.php was originally saved.
If you open up the file in regular text pad, the code is all garbled up. Dreamweaver screws up when interpreting those line breaks where other programs do not. The only other time I saw something like that was when I opened a file that was saved in unix format. (using win xp btw). I hope this helps but the easy answer is not use dreamweaver to edit that file. |
