Referral Link in User CP · **Released**: 01-13-2009

Often sites like to run contests for referrals, or members just like to be credited for those they refer to your site.

An easier way to do this is to use a referral link that automatically credits the user if the person they refer registers after using their link to get to your site.

You can add such a link into the USER CP shell so that if they wish to use the link to refer people to your site they can easily obtain access to it, copy it and paste it into e-mail, etc.

In Template USERCP_SHELL find:

I tested by logged myself of the board and used the referral link however it logged me back on. If I give this link to a friend would he/she be able to access my account ? I don't want that....

any help ?

No, it wouldn't. If you have logged in then use the link it will only take you to the forumhome. The link only works for referalls, they don't have your cookies on their computer. All it does is track if they register after following the link and mark them as your referral and give you credit for it.

cant find usercp shell or anything related to it

Your User CP Shell should be in your templates, not a file on the server.
