Here's what I do... I just basically do a sort of an editorial or a poll about something and it usually just flows from there. I am known as the instigator. I'll write about something and usually someone jumps on it than I back out and just kind of keep an eye on things. I'll jump in once in a while to light the fire, but the users usually take care of keeping it alive. It's almost like babysitting, in a way. You're there to make sure things run smooth and nothing gets out of hand. A good Admin is one that you don't see alot of all the time.

One debate at a time is more than enough. Any more than that and it can get real ugly fast.

so shouldnt i have a whole forum for the debates? just 1 thread? can users post debates? if they can then there will never be only 1

Do it however you want to. Have a debate forum where users can post debates. Just monitor things and keep them on track is all.
