----------------------------------
[ITech] [AJAX] Inferno Mod Tools Lite Created By Inferno Technologies (http://www.infernotechnologies.net) Copyright 2004-2007 All rights reserved Project Development Team: Zero Tolerance Project Lead: Iain "Decado" Kidd ---------------------------------- Project Description Mod Tools is an addition to vB which adds a couple of handy features, but mainly expands on making moderation easier, also implementing AJAX for streamlined control. Features Post History Moderation is from time to time haulted by the fact an earlier edition of a post is lost forever. Post History keeps a full log of all edits to posts made by everyone from the moment it has been installed. Through this your staff can easily select previous versions of the post, or choose to see them all, solving this problem. Post Moderation Comments Post moderation comments are designed to allow your staff to append little notes to a single post which can be viewed by staff and if chosen, the author of the post. Here you can add moderation notes you may usually do when editing a post, but keeping the message away from the public. Or you can use it to communicate with other staff privately about the post. Thread Bumping You may want the ability to bump a thread automatically under certain circumstances without having to post in the thread again. The thread bumping system offers options to you, you can set a thread to be bumped if the first post is edited, any post is edited or any post by the author is edited. Permissions As expected, all features and tools within the product are under usergroup permissions, and you are free to allocate the relevant permissions to the usergroups you wish. Question: Will the Pro Version work on modified styles? To what point can we modify our forums before this kicks the bucket? I too installed this, before I read through it....A mistake I have made many times in the past. I like this mod as many others do. But would like my questions answered, before I buy the Pro version......I know coders are making many great mods for all of us to use, free of charge & we all appreciate it very much. But if you use this forum to get people to purchase a better version of a mod, helping out with your free version should not be an issue. I think some coders need to learn to understand that most vb owners are not as smart as the coders are. We are here to learn as well. We download & install many great mods here. But asking questions of the coders should not turn into an argument. I think this mod should be removed from vb.org, you say this wont work with moded sites.....then why have it here or even sell it......after all, All of our sites are moded.....or we wouldn't be here.

Talking about the pro version features is a bit sketchy because of the vb.org rules on promotion, but we have a pre sales question area on our forums, where questions like that will be answered.
Hmm, eddie, can you show me where we said it won't work with modded sites? I don't recall saying that, and i don't think Zero did either... If you mean styles, well the problem is we can't take a look at every single style out there, and customise the mod to work with it. You should be aware when using styles that you might have to modify things to work properly within it. I don't see how it becomes our job to make our stuff work with whatever you decide to put on your forum. It works with all of Vbulletins default stuff, and we make the mods for vbulletin, not for vbulletin plus johnnywhoevers mods & skins. Sorry if that seems harsh, but we don't have the time to look into everyones issues for them and fix it. It's the same as people who install betas then complain when things don't work in them. If you aren't able to work around the problems things cause, *Don't use them*. How does the phrase go... don't look the gift horse in the mouth? If someone gives you something for free, what makes people think they have the right to demand more of that person. If the mod wasn't released you wouldn't have it, so why does the fact it *IS* released suddenly mean that we are expected to "help out"? We help people who support us etc, which is why we offer such comprehensive support on our PRO products. But why do people expect something for nothing in return? You are asking us to give up our own time to help you, when you aren't giving anything up in return, and then people *attack* us for this? Seems unfair to me. There are a lot of ways for us to get atention for our mods, and creating free lite versions of our products isn't the easiest of them. Zero does it because he has a long history of making mods for vb.org, and still holds the record for most MOTM actually. Anyway, sorry about the rant everyone, feels like i'm having to say the same stuff every couple of months now, but it's not easy to sit back and be attacked for giving people things for free. - Decado |

Eddie i answered both of your questions - discussing pro version features is sketchy because of the rules on promotion. We're not allowed to discuss the features of a paid version, you'd have to ask in our pre sales forum.
The thread is already marked as not supported, when people start attacking us DESPITE this, saying we SHOULD be helping, like you did, or that we're trying to in some way "con" people into paying for our stufflike then yes, we feel the need to defend ourselves. So even though it's clearly marked as NOT SUPPORTED it doesnt stop it being "hijacked with stupidity" from some people. Thats why I reply. - Decado |
