Stock Trader

Summary

This add-on gives your users the ability to use the money system on your board to "invest" in stock. Users can purchase and sell stock at market values. This plugin uses a stock feed from Yahoo to get real time stock quotes.

Release Notes

This product is considered to still be in Beta.This should be ending by the end of January.

This add-on is known to be compatible with vBulletin's built-in reputation system, vbBux and iCash.

Installation
Approx 2-5 mins

1. As always: Back up your Database!
2. upload the files in the "upload" directory, preserving the directory structure
3. Go into AdminCP and import the product-stocktrader.xml file.
4. (OPTIONAL) add a link in the navbar template or wherever your users can find it!

Upgrading/Updating

1. upload all files in the upload directory, overwriting any existing files
2. re-import the XML file, setting "Overwrite" to "Yes"

zethon, I'm sorry, but that line doesn't exist in my copy of vBtrade...there are some similar versions but nothing exactly like that?

I downloaded the package here, and it's not in there either. Could you take another look at it?

Will this work with Canadian Stocks that trade on the TSXV and TSX?

If so I am very interested in getting this setup on my new site.

I would also like a plugin or tweek that allows my members to search by canadian stock symbols, but with them being 3 letters and sometimes 2 it doesn't work well.

I added a list of popular symbols to the search options of the forum, but no luck.

Anyone have this problem? I am more interested in the Vbtrade working with Canadian Stocks.

Seems to be working great on 3.8.1! Reading back it looks like I tried this mod previously on 3.7 without any luck!

Anyway, great to have it working! What would be cool is a page that shows all stocks available and their ticker symbols. I like the idea of investing, but havent got any clue about their symbols!

Hi,

With your question regarding symbols.....For example the companies I would like to use with the Stock Trader are Canadian Stocks.

Their symbols depending on where you get your stock quote from are.

Example for Toronto Stock Exchange Venture = ABC.V
Example for Toronto Stock Exchange = ABC.T

US stocks are differnt symbols and I am hoping that this Mod works for Canadian Companies specially Mining Companies and I would be willing to help develop this mod (i.e. provide sources of information) with the coder.
