[release] Progress bar in newreply · **Released**: 12-20-2002

Description: adds a live progress bar and character counter to newreply to replace the [check message length] link.

Because of speed limitations the progress bar does not update with every keystroke, but rather every two seconds. Also, its color depends on how much you've typed (>80% is red, >60% is yellow, anything else is green).

Requires IE5.5, at least for the live counter. Not sure about the progress bar itself.

Nice hack, Filburt. I noticed that it causes the browser screen to "blink" ever so slightly as I am typing though. Anyone else noticed that?

(apologies if this was already mentioned; haven't read the whole thread yet)

It does it every five seconds or so which is when it updates the counter and progress bar. If it did it with every keystroke the typing would lag.

I installed it but it doesn't show any character count. It stays at 0, so where do I need to go to put in the character count. I just used it in my quick reply box area.

It was designed only to work with the full reply form and nothing else.
