on the subject of sidebars, anyone know how I could get something like the Shoutbox or another sidebar to permanantly reside on the right hand side as well as the left?

The box is where it's supposed to be the navbar adds extras 's in there...you can edit the navbar template to bring the forums higher or add a to the to top of the sidebar template.

Edit this part in my instructions:

where it says to add this above the footer:
