That wasn't the player, but the buttons (like you said) are monsters. I think nowadays you would need a hammer and whack the button to get that video player to play. Top loaders, you have to love em. I'm wondering if they used these as the special effects in the old james bond movies.

Shove an old player in the passengers seat and presto. We have liftoff.

Is that some kind of counter on the left hand side of that player? lol

I remember having hundreds of cassette tapes, a few dozen 8-tracks (with a nice 8-track player), and when we bought our first VCR - the first movie we rented was Return of the Jedi; - it had just come out on VHS. Duck and cover (under our desks) was something we did a few times for earthquake drills in Memphis but that changed later.
