Site Name: MakeupTalk.com
URL: www.MakeupTalk.com Description: Created in August of 2003, Makeuptalk.com is for women(and some men) to chit-chat about their favorite subjects: makeup, skin care, hair care, bath/body care, health and fitness, sex, beauty coupons, jokes, hot deals, and more. MakeupTalk's active custom coded Product Review Center is busy with almost 12,300 beauty product reviews written. The interactive custom coded Swap Center is alive with over 2,600 active traders trading products into swaps! It all runs on a vB backend! Thanks vB! When we started it, I knew I had to have vB as my back end as it's truly the shining star of boards. MakeupTalk.com is intended for women of all ages to exchange their beauty ideas and knowledge with other women around the world. With MakeupTalk, we can help each other and try to find solutions for the never ending questions about beauty, health and all the millions of products that are on the market. If you have already found some cool makeup products, makeup techniques, skin care ideas and fitness methods, that you know have helped you, please share it with the rest of us. Let’s also talk about the stuff that hasn’t worked that well so that we can prevent the disaster you went through happening to other women. Ladies of all ages, let’s get together and have some fun with our computers and get a real discussion going! Just click on any of the MakeupTalk.com categories to get started. Reason for Nomination: One of the main reasons I would like to nominate www.Makeuptalk.com is the hard work of our board moderators/super moderators and Jr. admin. (I'm the admin). These volunteers work their little tails off! My Hat's off to them. Thanks Girls! The site has blossomed in the past 2 years with over 753,000 posts, 43,000 threads and over 41,000 registered users! It sure has come alive in the past 2 years receiving over 2,500-4,000 posts/daily. We run approx 20-40 hacks that are available here on THE ORG. I want to take this time to personally thank many of the dedicated coders who release such excellent work to help boards like ours. Thank you very much!!! Sorry if I rambled and sorry for the long read, but I really feel like it deserves a nomination. |

Site Name: DOGHOUSE
URL: http://doghouse.forumdog.com Description: A forum about forums, aimed at promotion, review and building of communities rather than the more advanced modding side of things. Reason for Nomination: Well, I'm afraid we don't have much of a super-dedicated community yet to plug, but we're hoping for one! The forum is very highly customised featuring mods, mods of mods and plenty of Doghouse-only customisations. Some small touches like the combination post/thread/status icons (my personal favourite mod there, I know it's sad I just think it works really well) and section-specific favicons and some bigger modifications like the very-often-requested and soon-to-be-released-as-a-plugin Dogg post/thread voting which hides negatively rated posts and threads and was made especially for the site. The theme(s, there are a few colours) are equally highly customised in a super-quick, super-clean style and almost entirely redone in places to fully optimise the vBulletin UI and usabilty in key locations. The postbit I personally like the most, it has been totally redesigned into a unique and again super-clean "comment" style appearance. Long story short, it may not be an all-singing, all-dancing graphical explosion. But lots of effort was put into extensive improvements where it counts and I think the result is worth a nod. Ta for reading, hope someone appreciates it! |
