Thread Description Hack v2.0.1
Priority Support: http://www.extremewebtech.com/forums/f272-free-vbulletin-hacks/t243972-thread-description-hack-v2-0-1-a What this hack does: This hack allows your users to add descriptions to their threads that show up on the threadlist. This allows people to read what the thread is about before they enter the thread. Planned: Add showing of thread description to search results. Option to turn off thread descriptions on a per forum basis Option to turn off thread descriptsion showing up on search results. ajax support for editing thread description from forumdisplay. Whats new in v2? Well in version 2.0 I fixed many bugs that existed on later version of vbulletin with the ajax features removing the thread description. Plus I made the code cleaner overall and also made it easier for everybody install and use this system. Fixed in version 2.0.1 fixed two bugs with the query manipulation for forumdisplay that could cuase a conflict. If you use this mod please click install. Priority Support: here= Show Your Support

only problem i've encountered is when i do all the template changes it adds two boxes instead of one so i get:
Thread title: [ ] Description: [ ] : [ ] underneith the description box theres just : and another box underneith it.... upon removing the template edit from New thread....it worked fine. one suggestion is to make the description underneith the title of the thread as mine does this: Test titel - test description i want it to be Test title Test description |

You only have to do the template edits for newthread and edit post if you dont see the box showing up from the automated template edits.

Thread description showing only on forumdisplay but not on showthread? Thread description should be displayed on showthread also, shouldn't it?
I just need to add the value to showthread and it should work. I'll see how it goes. Thanks for the nice hack! |

Is there anyway for the description to be searchable on the search page? It all works wonderfully BTW!

The Priority Help Link Takes Me A Thread About Porn! WTF!?
Hope you can help me here. I have tried adding this product and the result has been that in the thread editting view, I can add a description. However, these descriptions do not appear anywhere else on the forums after the thread is posted. Note, I have done the addition edits. However, the addition edits were not done in the editpost.php or newthread.php files because the code wasn't there. I found the code in a fill called /install/vbulletin-style.xml. Weird, I know. Not being a retard on this one, I searched all the source code for '$vbphrase[title]' and all the results bar one were in the vbulletin-style.xml. I am using vB Ver.3.6.4. Do you think this is the problem? |
