Ever been tired of pointing the user to the searchfunction? The same question has been asked multiple times? With this Hack you can point the user to the searchfunction.
What does this hack do?
Point To Search 1.0 adds a link to the Thread/Admin Tools, where a Mod can create a default post that contains a predefined text, like:
the question you are asking has been already answered in another thread.
Please use the (link to searchfunction) Searchfunction to get your answer faster.
best wishes,
Admin

As an option, you can decide to close the thread after that reply or leave it open. Additionally, you can choose if the Hack should use the current user as the poster or use a specific account.
This can be realised through changing the original phrase. Otherwise you have to wait until my new hack with pre-defined phrases is ready.
So I have your permission to modify the xml file to suite my needs of changing it from pointing to search function to the faq or my website? or even both?
Would you please add the instructions from the first post in a text file and zip it up with the xml file for download, sir? That makes it easier for re-installs if the member ever needs to do that.
Some assistance please. btw first this mod DOES work after upgrading from 3.5.4 to 3.6.2
anyway, what I would like to have is for my 'canned message' (that this mod generates) to say after the 'hello':
Quote:
The question you are asking has been already answered in either another thread or elsewhere on our site.
Please use the Forum Search to search for a thread; Look in our FAQ or try searching our Web Site. A search is available on our Site Map, to get your answer faster.
best wishes,
with the 'Forum Search' being the link to the obvious, the FAQ being a link to the forum faq page, and the word Site Map being a link to our Site Map webpage.
Code:
the question you are asking has been already answered in either:

best wishes,
but when I do this is the message that results from the above:

Site Map to get your answer faster.
best wishes,
anyone have a clue what I'm doing wrong?
Edit: The word Searchfunction and the word Site Map come up as links, but the rest of the words are just ummm missing....
