For American Football, there is a great script (open source on Freshmeat) that fetches the players from NFL and uses cron to update results. If you want I could dig up for the link. Worst case scenario, I had installed it on my site to study a little, so I could always send you a zip. Me I have no use for it as I focus solely on soccer and have my own pool of players to select from.

Mike check this site out: http://www.xmlteam.com/fod/ It's a place to get stats on demand and is reasonably priced. I think for the fantasy league, we need to think a little smaller in terms of what it will do. If it's a full blown league with a bunch of different categories for stats, then it's going to be harder to manually enter stats. For example: With fantasy football you can go crazy with all different stats and what not, but if kept simple, it wouldn't be too hard to have a few moderators update it after the games. Let's say for example for this fantasy football league, and we only count Touch Downs and Yards. Example scoring: Positions to Score: (QB, RB, TE, WR) Everyone receives, 4 pts for a thrown touchdown, and 6 points for a running touch down. Everyone receives 1 point for every 20 yards thrown. Everyone recieves 1 point for every 10 yards rushing or receving. Now after each game, a moderator will look at the Box Scores from ESPN or where ever, and plug in the TD's, and Yards for each player. example: Peyton Manning - 300 Yards Throwing, 5 yards rushing, 3 TD's. So I enter those three values into the system, and it cacualtes is as 33 points. That wouldn't be too difficult to manage. Like I said, as long as you have some moderators who can help enter in those values every day/week, whatever it may be, it would work fine. The site I posted above could give us the rosters, and that would be half the battle. Quote:

Folks,
With the Germany 2006, I would like to have a system where my members can bet on teams sort of like a fantasy league. Anyone doing something similar? |

There is a way to have this automaticly run. But it means that i would have to have someone update all the stats every week for it. Then when you have payed for your fantasy league system or the free version you will have to buy access to the xml file that would be on my site to update your league stats. This will take me a bit of time to work out but i will sort it out and make it as cheap as i can for the free version and the pro version of the fantasy league system. Will keep you posted on whats going on. |

But this is not posible as there is alot to this. If i was to make this by april it would have to be updated by the admin of the site not with the auto system i would like to put in. So if you dont mind updating the stats yourself then i will get onto it and sort it. But i would think most people would want it to be auto done. If it was not auto done the admin of the site would have to get the results of the race or what every they are using this for and enter in the info manuly. Then run the update script to update all the players stats. If i made the auto system you would only need to click the update stats and it would pull the info for that race from my site. This is up to you i will make it any way people want it. The thing with the auto system i would have to charge for the use of it. Will let you know more on this soon Quote:
