Community Bulletin:
This mod grabs all the latest information in your forum (posts, threads, events, birthdays, etc) and puts them into a newsletter to be sent to all your members that subscribe.
This mod has been around a long time and gone through many versions. It has been a paid version for a number of years with great success, but it's time to pass on the reigns.
[edit Feb 03, 2011]
Attempted fix for sending to users that are part of multiple user groups
[installation]
- upload some files
- upload the product.xml
- make 1 mod to the usercp options template
- FULL DETAILS in the README.txt
[note] many people ask why all the images, etc don't show up in the HTML version of what is in your forum. This is because most mail clients strip out the CSS and vbulletin is 99% CSS. I have created an HTML version that is nice and clean, but is forum independent. If you know what you are doing, you can edit this HTML file and build your own newsletter.
hey can anybody share the plugin 4.5f, because i need to run a cron job for community bulletin, i am willing to pay also. I tried to download the package from the developers site but the link is down, Please share the cron file.php with me asap.
Thanks
That would be a copyright violation because the 4.x versions were all paid add-ons. Try contacting the developer, grandeur_69, via PM from this site.
I have been using commbull for years with little trouble. This week I sent out the newsletter, and it appeared to go fine.
I usually get several copies because I have several ID's on my site. I never got one. I have checked with a couple of users and they didn't either. I tried several more sends to the administration group for testing, all failed.
Where should I start to look?
Most of the problems I have with my site is my virtual server host is running mode security and something changes, although they are not identifying a problem right now and are asking that I provide a log. I don't know what log to provide, the error log is not showing a problem in the test sendings.
Maybe your site is blacklisted as a spammer, which means that email providers are blocking it. Are you processing the bounce notifications that email providers send to you? Read the article in my signature.
Great article! I have wondered about these aspects of a newsletter. I will be modifying my template to reflect some of the points.
I only send out my newsletter to active? members. One nice feature of commbull is the ability to limit it to active member within a specified time. I limit it to 180 days. This probably covers the bad email address problem mentioned.
