Here it goes, a new kind of Points System that works in any kind of situations.

this product is now GOLD ... version 1.0.1 !

(give points on registration, give point when invited, give points to referrer!)

update 04-10-07: reformated the tasks in the Deals, so now they are safe on mega big sites... (tested on a 250 000 users forum today!)

Simplicity:
this system is a lot more simplier than all the other points systems, provide less features, but at least, it work from the start, and can be upgraded without being hassled by a long HowTo... it is so simple that ANY coder can support it... even if the creator(me) dies, everybody can make a follow up of these works.

Advantages:
- no API... no need to learn a lot of codes to be able to write a new addon for it.
- no strange calculations... you can add, delete, multiply points without having to filter everything.
- a lot of hooks possible. so if you want to apply a filter to the default points given, per usergroup or per forum, you can... without having to re-write everything.
- no need to edit millions of templates...actually, with the Core Only, you have no file or template to edit...it use the vBulletin hooks system at its best!
- no millions of features for no uses... if you don't want to use this or that feature, just don't install it! everything is run by products related to the CORE... so if you don't want all these gadgets, you don't have to install them.

Features:

default features in the core package: give points when posting threads or replies, give points on reputation... that's all...

Admin can now edit users points in the User Management...

A lot of features in the future... each time something is requested, we can see if it is possible with the default installation of vBulletin, and if not, we can surely provide a file edit to make it work.


MESSAGE TO CODERS:: if you want to play with it and bring addons and new features, PLEASE do so.. this is the goal of this freely plugable system.

MESSAGE for vBbux Owners:: The vBbux Import is now back as a package in this thread. If you already imported your vBbux points, DON'T DO IT AGAIN!

READ THE HowTo.txt file to know what to do with this...

ISHOP ADDONS:
Blaine0002 now provide his iSHOP, stating it is working properly with this system. the only detail you need for this integration is this detail when you edit your iSHOP settings:

for the generous minds: i've been asked some times if i was receiving donations... donations are gifts, so i can't refuse gifts... but i do not ask for any... and for infos (stop asking in a pm), the "Support Developper" on the top right panel of this release is the link to click!

NPS is not and will never be a replacement for vBbux...

Why not? (what can vbbux do that NPS can't?)

vbplaza was for me a pain and a complete loss of resources for a real forum... and i'm not interested to make a mimic of this tool with my system.

Thats acceptable, but if I have vbbux installed and I wanted to convert it to NPS would I be able to keep VBPlaza working with it?

I'm not asking anyone to make anything or do anything I'm just asking whether or not Vbplaza will work with NPS and what features I lose if I convert from vbbux to NPS

It's alright buddy.. I'm just implemented this mod onto my forum and with that bug, I made it as a feature instead where if a thread were to be deleted (as likely to be spam), the thread start will be deducted the thread points + a fine of the reply points.

Also make a feature like only point work for few forums(Ex: it shoud not increase points in some forum like OFF TOPIC and shud be enabled in other forum sections...)


Also make a option like you can edit the points for all users by the admin... Hope its a easy one .. just a update query.. hope so...

Solved it today with further investigation. Her points accumulated were ALL used when she spent a day viewing attachments on the forum, and i had set points to be deducted upon each view....so she had no points left. Everything is ok and apologies if i created a mystery from nothing!

Suggestion for Admin CP update : Is there any way we can see the TOTAL points in hand accumulated and TOTAL points in Bank summarised as Two figures at the bottom of the forum for example in "whats going on?" section.
e.g

Total Cash in Hand for all members : ?56.34p
Total Cash in Bank for all members : ?0.00p

For me this is important as points = cash and i need to be able to see the sum total of them at any one time. Many people must have the same need.

Anyway to edit users points mnaually. Im using this systems as a way to share loot out in World Of Warcraft and with the ability to make deductions to someones points it s a little pesky

actually it is possible in the admincp where you edit your users... later you'll be able to do it via ajax... anywhere!

If my questions are annoying or insulting I appologize but I am really interested in switching to your points system.. I just want to know if it will work with vbPlaza and what functions I will lose from vbbux when I switch.

(Yes I know about the bugs and exploits in vb...that's why I want to switch)

actually, you are not annoying me at all... or why would i answer you..

i don't know if vBPlaza would work with my NPS, because i think it requires some functions that are inside vBBux... (they are bond.) ... actually if Plaza is independent, it only require to have the name of the field used to store the cash, (nex_points_hand) ... that would be possible to make it work that way.

someone used to play with Plaza can help here, i don't know...

Its probably better you don't mix it with VbPlaza....at the moment its got a security flaw (see its thread) and is unsupported. Personally I don't see the benefit in risking my forum for a product the author doesn't see fit to fix.
