Hi Smiry and Dean,
Thanks for your support guys. I have just spoken with Pennyless over YIM, and he is now very supportive of my project and believes it is possible. He is on the same page as I am as we both want a solid new standard for all vb profiles, and a way for third parties to make easy-to-use addons for the profile template. |

Yup, I agree, as long as there is a simple standard, that works on all forums, each forum can then build from one platform. And developers can build from there.
Be nice if vb developers would just let me redo the member_info template and save us more time. Guess I'll change my signature since you guys are now interested in my code. And to clarify, I made my first statement, becuase I've watched these threads go round and round in circles. I HAVE ALSO WATCHED CERTIAN MEMBERS attempt to TAKE CREDIT OR GET CREDIT FOR IDEAS AND CONCEPTS WHICH ARE NOT THEIR OWN OR ATTEMPT TO GET CREDIT BY ORGANIZING SOMETHING AND NOT HAVING ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE END PRODUCT. |

I suggest you and a few other people in this topic calm down, otherwise it will be joining the list of closed threads. |

Toolblast does have the support of the folks he claims, so this is good. And we are right on the dollar.
It's simple, different forums, have different needs. One site might not need blogs, another might. I run a car site for example, we don't need blogs, and favorite music and who do you want to date, etc. Someone might run an art site and again, have different goals. What needs to be first built is the STANDARD, the current profile doesn't work. What I came up with was a simple template product that just installs overtop of the member_info. I also created a format for a module_shell. Basically how modules should be displayed if I 3rd party is making an add-on. My template system would use the defualt vb install and be str8 forward, it would work on every site, with no MODIFICATIONS of TEMPLATES. Then modules could be added to backbone which is being coded by his team. So it makes it simple. Say your a car site, dont' need blogs, so maybe you add a Timeslip module. Say your an art work site, you can have a recent submissions module. Or a social networking site, you'd have more things like a friends module, blogs module, etc. Maybe an RSS feeds module. There would be a standard set, that comes with the standard, and then additional modules to download individually. Pretty simple, just have to have a format to follow. Ok, cool. |

I think everyone here is calmed down now, I've taken care of the situation. Hopefully there won't be any more outbursts. Appreciate your concern. |

Can't wait for the hack. I was supposed to be a beta tester for vbspace until they screwed us. Oh well it'll come when its ready.
Edit: Why would they close the name suggestions thread? Whatever. Just let us know when the thread about your hack comes out. |

Hi Danny,
Glad you are looking forward to it. We will be posting a thread up shortly, first I am just finalizing our development team that will work on the hack as it'll take about a week (4-5 days) to get the right people and brief everyone so that they are all up to speed on the requirements and the project timelines and scope. I will then make a thread on vb.org with the details about the free profiles hack and where to learn more. The name thread was closed because an admin felt it was leading towards the wrong direction and didn't want it to turn out violating vb.org rules. That is ok, looking forward to starting the thread about the project. Btw, if you want to help, read this. |
