SORRY, HACK DROPPED

Here it goes, a new kind of Points System that works in any kind of situations.

this product is now GOLD ... version 1.0.1 !

(give points on registration, give point when invited, give points to referrer!)

update 04-10-07: reformated the tasks in the Deals, so now they are safe on mega big sites... (tested on a 250 000 users forum today!)

Simplicity:
this system is a lot more simplier than all the other points systems, provide less features, but at least, it work from the start, and can be upgraded without being hassled by a long HowTo...

it is so simple that ANY coder can support it... even if the creator(me) dies, everybody can make a follow up of these works.

Advantages:
- no API... no need to learn a lot of codes to be able to write a new addon for it.
- no strange calculations... you can add, delete, multiply points without having to filter everything.
- a lot of hooks possible. so if you want to apply a filter to the default points given, per usergroup or per forum, you can... without having to re-write everything.
- no need to edit millions of templates...actually, with the Core Only, you have no file or template to edit...it use the vBulletin hooks system at its best!
- no millions of features for no uses... if you don't want to use this or that feature, just don't install it! everything is run by products related to the CORE... so if you don't want all these gadgets, you don't have to install them.

Features:

default features in the core package: give points when posting threads or replies, give points on reputation... that's all...

Admin can now edit users points in the User Management...

A lot of features in the future... each time something is requested, we can see if it is possible with the default installation of vBulletin, and if not, we can surely provide a file edit to make it work.

MESSAGE TO CODERS:: if you want to play with it and bring addons and new features, PLEASE do so.. this is the goal of this freely plugable system.

MESSAGE for vBbux Owners:: The vBbux Import is now back as a package in this thread. If you already imported your vBbux points, DON'T DO IT AGAIN!

READ THE HowTo.txt file to know what to do with this...

actually, as i was working on the #1, i also debugged the #2..

later this evening i will release a 1.0.2 version, with all these debugs and some new features...

for the @2, here is the process:

when a thread is deleted, first we retrieve the points of the thread author for the thread creation.
then we count the posts inside this thread without the firstpost (thread creation) grouped by userid.
if the posts are from the thread starter, we apply the proper points for it or the default depending on settings
then we retrieve the points on each user for each total of posts *(if userid 1 have 4 posts, we retrieve 4*points)....

as i dropped the calculation of the firstpostid, the count is based on posts for the thread.

Do you think it would be a pain in the ass to get someone else to work on a shop? I installed IShop and i would like to say its the crappest thing ive ever seen.

^^ yeah im desperately waiting for a shop as well. i know ziki is about 25% done building his shop, guess we just gotta keep waiting, at least we have a points system

just nothing to spend the points on lol

Yeah, but Ziki's will cost money! I find that rediculous as he said he wants 75$ for it!

hum, can you just keep it on-topic... if Ziki release something non-free, that is his right...

for the iShop, even the iBank, they are not part of this project, they are "compatible"... Blaine0002 built them long time ago. and as he state in his release, they are basic replacements...

for the bank, i have a complete and "like-in-real-life" solution on paper here, but i'm actually focussing on the first part of the project, bringing this version to a complete debugged and hassle-free release...

i'm actually working on the admin side, something i called "the Dealer"...

A deal is a way to modify their points in hand - like in a Casino!

Deal on default values may look like:

if you reset all members to zero, you can then:
.. apply default points on registration, or X points after reset
.. apply default points for existing threads/posts
.. both!

this is an example.

(btw, no other Points/Cash system have that kind of feature yet!)

Dealer function sounds good!! This way it will be easier to manage individual points and also if a payout has been done to the user, we can use the dealer to remove the amount from his total cash!

Well though off Nex!

I'm still eagerly waiting for the deletion bug to be resolved so I can release it on my board for my members!!

Do you have a timeline for this Nex?
