I am new to this site and am just learning the system and vbulletin as well...i have to say, as a newbie, i love this thread simply because i think it's cool. not only am i really looking forward to the mod, i am somewhat watching little steps that are happening. i am starting to learn some coding, reading and learning, i just like to watch how the whole thing is being formed in this thread.
I've just taken a look at SirAdrian's site and noticed he's been hard at work developing blog software that fully intergrates with vB. Since the vBSpace solution is going to be modular it looks like vB Blog (or whatever it's going to be called) will be a great complement and bring even more great features to end users.

All that is, is a template modification. You could easily edit the template, add the appropriate width of the columns, add a few images here and there, then add a few div tags with your own classes, update your css file and you're there. It should take a few hours, but nothing to hard, just tedious.
man i don't have the slightest idea of how to do that. i have tried before. Lets just say it was a complete mess ha

What would be very useful is some sort of step by step guide then people can do it for themselves. A large portion of people on here don't have the knowledge or confidence to go 'tampering' with templates - to them the contents of a template is like trying to read a foreign language.
I don't see a problem with starting a thread just as long as you have the right intentions & don't give out false information. It's cool to keep people like myself updated so that we're not sitting there like "WTF is going on?"
All I have to say is this is a very dumb idea when compared to Zoints.
So basically you want ever forum to have social networking capabilities which will spread the entire internet community thin. Each site will have it's own network, people will have to create multiple profiles and set one up on each site they visit? Retarded. Zoints networks everything into one profile for all the participating forums that has it. Why don't you use that solution rather than driving the social networking fad through the ground?

What's the difference between "social networking spread thin" and the thousands upon thousands of currently existing forums? MANY forums cater to very specific userbase and are not trying to compete with myspace. We want some of the features for our current members. You sound like a zoints salesman.
If this thread turns into a Zoints debate, I will close it. The purpose of this thread is to discuss development of a profile page modification not to discuss a commercial mod.
