add a custom profile field called avatar.
check the number, like field5 or higher

now in admin cp edit postbit template.
change "$post[avatar]" to <*img src="$post[field5]">
without the *

it allows all users custom avatars though

I have done this by removing the option to add this at registration and adding a hidden input field pointing to a single blank space graphic.
