"New Thread" on forums descriptions hack

This one's in response to a request on http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showt...threadid=35579

This hack should put a "New Thread" (or whatever text you want) in the forum description for any forum the user can access normally.

Demo site: www.underlight.com

Sounds like you need to go to the admin control panel and the forums and moderators.. Find the category and click edit.. Then go down to where it says act as a forum and tell it no.. I don't have it installed but from reading the post thats what I gather from it..

this is where the problem lies though

the new thread link is going on the forums which have been set to 'no' for act as a forum

Thanks, I've used it like this in the '_post' templates of the forumdisplay and home. I've added it around the on/off button like this:

Has anyone else noticed that whenever you put certain php commands in messages here the board converts them... for example I put { imagesfolder } then and it was changed to {imagesfolder}

When viewing your forums page where it lists your forums, it adds a link in the description for posting a new thread in that forum.

Question - Is there a way to set this so it only displays if that person has posting access to the forum?

I have a few forums that members can read and reply in but only moderators can start new threads in.

Unfortunately they see the link and I get a few intellectually challenged ones asking why they have lost their posting access LOL
