On my forums GAMESNET i need to DONT show the LOGIN user filed as public. I made a new filed called NICKNAME (or PUBLIC NAME TO SHOW), and i changed all variables username in field5 in my templates.

I Only partially solved my problem, becose the LOGIN is still showed in the "STARTER THREAD", in the "MODERATOR" and in the "Posted By:" fileds u can see in the forums...

It's VERY important for me solve asap this problem, because all our PORTAL user profiling depends by this.

Ok. We did it at all: moderators, posts, posted by and threads.

Any chance you can share what you changed to save some of the rest of us the headaches you went through?? At some point I had wanted to do something similar but never got past some of the roadblocks it seems you got through.
