Right, firstly, i really appreciate all this help!, i did as instructed and if i was to use http://www.thecodecage.com/forumz/ip...in=192.168.1.1 as the url its perfect but if i use http://www.thecodecage.com/forumz/iptest.php to get to the page it says invalid result.....however that could be brilliant as i want to use the ip lookup with a click from the postbit as i mentioned at the bottom of my first post, so if i could get it to look at something like this

I'm not sure if that's a question, but it looks like you almost have it. Looking at the existing postbit template, it looks like the variable with the ip is $post[iplogged].

Again, thanks for all your help and replies, i did get it to work with this iptest.php?domain=$post[ip] but i had the folder hirarchy wrong....sorted now, thanks a million
