You may as well go one further and tell him to stop using his computer.
Protect your computer m8 and always keep your virus scanners upto date and things like this wont happen.And dont click on any links unless u know they 100% safe and that inc links inside any MSN chat window.

AVG work fine if you update it everyday!

I'd like to thank you for this, David! I used it this morning and it found two problems my other programs didn't, one being Avast!

No problem - I use this in tandem with other anti-spyware applications every day (I work in IT). Also, a good tip - even if you think you're clean, you may have to run another application like spyware doctor or spybot, or both, restart, and then re-run malwarebytes to find more goodies . There is a list of applications I use, but these are a few.

AVG is anti-virus, not anti-spyware. You should get an anti-spyware and clean your PC.
Even if you don't run IE, some just is still on your drive and may mess some other things you will not know (sending spam using your PC is one example).
Try Ad-Aware or Spybot. Both has free versions.
