Interesting. That looks like a slip-on to me. I guess over here in the islands we consider slippers opened-toe like the images below:







Of course there are different styles and material, indoor and outdoor types. We generally wear them outside if we're not wearing shoes. Indoor wear sometimes when we have hard surfaces such as tiles or wooden floors. Though, we don't wear outside wear inside the house. I never understood that about many parts of the mainland.

I am talking shoes you wear to keep your feet warm while in your pajamas. Locally, we just call the above pictures sandals or "flip-flops".

As far as wearing shoes in the house, we don't wear shoes inside. Another reason slippers would be nice as it would add another barrier between the tile and the feet. Socks are too confining.

Some people call those 'thongs' as well.
