This will work with any version of 3.6

Installation Time: 10 minutes or less

Demo Page: www.qskglobal.com/rules.php

Step One:

Log into your admin control panel, go to Styles and Templates and find the style you'd like to add the rules page to and click Add Template.

Step Two:

Name this templete custom_Rules

Copy and Paste the following code to the body of this new template (edit the text in bold with your info):
Code:
$stylevar[htmldoctype]
<html dir="$stylevar[textdirection]" lang="$stylevar[languagecode]">
<head>
$headinclude
<title>$vboptions[bbtitle]</title>
</head>
<body>

$header
$navbar
<!-- Custom Code Start Here -->
<center>
<div style="padding:0px 0px 0px 0px">

<table class="tborder" cellpadding="0px" cellspacing="1" border="0" width="468px" <td align="center">
<tr>

<td class="thead" align="center">Official Site Rules | What can get you Banned</td>

</tr>
<tr>
<td class="alt1" align="center">
1.
<br />
<br />
2.
<br />
<br />
3.
<br />
<br />
4.
<br />
<br />
5.
<br />
<br />
6.

	</td>

</tr>
</table>

</div>
</center>
<!-- / Custom Code Ends here -->
$footer
</body>
</html>
Step three:

Fill in your rules.

Step Four:

Add the rules.php file (attached) to your sites main directory.

Step Five (optional):

This will add the sites rules link to your navbar
Find in template navbar:
Code:
<if condition="$show['registerbutton']">
			<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="register.php$session[sessionurl_q]" rel="nofollow">$vbphrase[register]</a></td>
		</if>
Add the following below:

Code:
<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="rules.php$session[sessionurl_q]">Site Rules</a></td>

Now you have a clean Rules page where you can link people to read in their welcome PM. This will help new members learn more about your board and hopefully save you some frustrations new members sometimes cause.

Hmm... Is anybody notice that (after installing this mod) WHO IS ONLINE page does not properly display those users who are reading page http://myforum/rules.php

Users who are reading page http://myforum/rules.php on WHO IS ONLINE page are displayed as Unknown location

How to fix it?

The reason it says that is because its not a premade page with vbulletin and Who's Online can't recognize it to specify.

To anyone having trouble, if you follow those intructions perfect...you should have no trouble.

Just what I was looking for, thank you.

Another mod to add, if you want the box to be the same width as the forum, try this...

Code:
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="$stylevar[cellpadding]" cellspacing="$stylevar[cellspacing]" border="0" width="100%" align="center">
...instead of...

Code:
<table class="tborder" cellpadding="0px" cellspacing="1" border="0" width="468px" <td align="center">
Thanks
Glen

I know this is not related to your mod. But thought I might give you a challenge

Everything works. Except I have Vbadvanced CMPS and Vbadvanced Links. When clicking the Navbar it fails to find the right path. I am learning on this but haven't yet found a way to make it work. If no ideas, I will start poking around in the vbadvanced sutff.

You have to add two plugins.
Click here to see a great article that shows you.
Or you can use the xml attached.Remember its a plugin, not a product.

You can use the variable $vboptions[bburl] in front of the /rules.php
Code:
<td class="vbmenu_control"><a href="$vboptions[bburl]/rules.php$session[sessionurl_q]">Site Rules</a></td>
