[BOTM March 2007] Nominations Thread

This is the nomination thread for Board of the Month March.

Nominations will be accepted until the 28th of February . Also, please note, that the current voting thread for BOTM February will remain open as well until the 28th of February.

When nominating please post the site name, URL to the forum, a short description what makes your board stand out from default vBulletin, and a reason for nomination that will motivate others to second the nomination. If the staff feels that a nomination post is too promotional it will be edited accordingly.

Any sites without a name, URL, description and reason for nomination will NOT be entered into the poll. Please ensure that your nomination is in the format:

Reason for Nomination: Just finished upgrading to 3.6.4 and integrating with MediaWiki - brand new style, lots of new features, and now trying to push for new members, taking out adverts, etc. Take a look!

Description: Off-topic french board. Discussions concern movies, music, games... To sum up : everything which is related to entertainment.

Reason for Nomination: A huge work has been done in order to answear to members' needs, making Hyjoo a heavily modified board, with a lot of "homemade" hacks. A few examples :

- We created our own article system with a special "indexation feature" (see here for an example with our Anime & Manga Index) !

- We created a fully integrated IRC system (with unrealircd server, and a java script which links it to the vB database). Only Hyjoo members are able to login to this private IRC server (test it here if you want) !

- We now have our directory, generated from the DMOZ one, and integrated in our board.

I'll second this forum. Anyone who has attempted to create a cross-browser compatible tableless vB will appreciate the complexity of this work. The layout is clean and crisp with an exquisite selection of colors. It also employs very advanced on-page SEO techniques. Ayyas gets my vote :up:

Apart from the specialized nature of the forum, it was designed to be a one stop shop so to speak. Users can find/do everything they need right here. The forums are heavily customized to fit the theme, users not only have a wide array of features to "play with" but it gives them a sense of ownership. Being the home to a football sim league they create team homepages, userbars for thier team, team trophy rooms and more!

Cosmetics/Hacks:

• Thread description hack

• Forums meticulously organized, everything very concicley laid out and easy to find. Forum FAQ is updated monthly.

• GT Usercp/PM hack installed

• Links to reference material for stats/depth charts....etc, so they dont have to search all over for them.

• Drop down list at registration places favorite team logo above avatar

• Sports post icon hack contains logo's from ever professional sports team

• Almost 1000 pre-loaded avatars, including ones from almost every football league ever in existance!

• Yet another award system hack modified to act as a trophy room for each user to display thier awards and achievements.

• The Userbar hack is installed to create userbars for sigs

• User can upload images to a gallery

• Using Logician's WebTemplates hack, fantasy league info (previous season winners, stat leaders, division alignment...etc) all put together in nice neat pages for users.

• Vbookie installed for betting on sporting events

Other hacks:
Vbplaza, arcade, radio with over 50+ stations in all formats loaded, Who Quoted Me, Top Posters, Googlemap are also loaded.

- Simple design to increase speed, no fancy styles. Very customizable and powerful.
- Features new post hybride mode display system
