As stated previously, we are trying to please the entire memberbase of the community. Also, as Paul said, as soon as the site is upgraded to 3.6 our top priority is going to be the completion of the projects we have planned. |

vb.com is also run by Jelsoft - it is their job to maintain the site, so of course they have lots of time to spend on it - vb.org is run by volunteers who have their own forums, their own jobs, and their own lives to run as well. You might also recall that everyone who knew anything about how this site was put together, and how it all works, has left. Meaning we (mostly I) have had to spend a lot of time actually going through all the code, working out how it works. We can't just blindly install 3.6 and cross out fingers, hoping it will work, everything has to be tested, and in many cases edited/upgraded. You would think that members who administer forums would realise that we can't just rush into it, In fact you would think they had a bit more respect for the amount of work that actually goes into keeping this place going - I can tell you that I had no idea until I joined. Yes, you would think this - but apparently not ....... JFYI, this is the current status ; I have been working on the 3.6 upgrade for the last few weeks and it's now (I think) running sucessfully on one of our development forums. It's now waiting to be given a full upgrade test - and this was going to happen this week - but our timings have been delayed by the move to the new servers. I don't know yet when this test can be performed as it's out of my control. Once the final test has been completed, and any problems resolved, the full upgrade will follow on a convienient weekend. |

Many of us do understand that Paul.
Anyway, purely out of curiousity, what would be your thoughts on a non-staff coded hack database? I'm sure there are many capable hands here... and in a few months time if nothing is up yet I wouldn't even mind doing it. |

I personally think that's a good idea, and will discuss it with the rest.

maybe if jelsoft helped out then it would be done but I guess someone don't ask for the help around here or is to proud to ask for there support? you would think in the server move it would have been done then to have less of a down time since you were already going to have down time. truely without this site I think jelsoft might not be as big as they are.
delayed by the move to the new servers? so is that the case for the new hack db also? why only have you work on it as you quoted "Meaning we (mostly I)". don't think i'm just putting you on the spot paul cause i'm not trying to do that as it should be a team effort redoing it and not just you. maybe jelsoft needs to be more involved on this site cause the coding team here only seems to be you from what you say "Meaning we (mostly I)". In the last few months it has been crazy around here from broken promises to staff leaving.. I know everything cant be done over night but to take 2 months to do it when they have some of the best coders on there team is bad. maybe if jelsoft paid more attention to there own forums then they wouldn't have as much trouble with staff leaving from being burned out or with all this work to run this forum. |

Thank You for updating us Paul. I look forward to seeing vB.org getting upgraded to 3.6.

With the hack database getting a re-write and a possible facelift will the graphic database be undergoing the same changes?
