AME 2.5 - Media Embedding for posts, sigs, vm's, groups and blogs
Developer Last Online: Jan 2019
From the makers of the letters O and Yea comes the hottest 'must have mod' of the season: AME 2.5 - The Return of The Hot Mama.
Thanks everyone for making AME 2.5 Mod of the Month AME is the multi award winning modification that smartly scans new and edited posts for URLs from a customisable variety of web sites (i.e. YouTube or Amazon or about 200 others). If it finds a match, AME will 'transform' the URL into inline embedded media without your users ever having to even think about it. It was important for me to create a system that did not need updating (and subsequent reinstalling) every time one of the sites it supported decided to change the way it displayed its media (which is all the fricken time). Therefore I built a system in which the 'definitions' for each site could be imported, exported, tweaked and shared on a whim. This way, you only have to import the definitions that you want. It also allows the vB community to get creative and share definitions that I wouldn't of thought of! Which sites are supported? Included in the default installation is YouTube and Amazon. At time of posting this, I believe that there are over 180 sites supported that have been created by the vBulletin community. These range from sites that stream videos to Amazon referral links to locally hosted music and video files. Check out the 'add ons' section of this post below to see availible add-ons. For a total list of features and an FAQ, see click here. For a post on troubleshooting, click here. Though not tested on any version of vBulletin lower than 3.7.4, in theory it should work on versions 3.5 and higher (just dont quote this bit!). Big thanks goes out to all those in the community that have supported this mod. Especially Digital Jedi who gives great support on this mod and has created over 160 definitions for this system alone! Looking to upgrade to VB4 but could not find this mod available for 4. Is there another mod/feature that replaces this mod in VB4 or its just not yet available?
NM.. found it... AME3 - Auto Media Embeding and Video Extender |

Is there a great deal of coding involved in creating a definition?

I have replaced the YouTube regular expression on my site with the following code:
Code:
[http://]*[a-z]*?[\.]?youtube\.[a-z]*?/watch\?[&\w;=\+_\-]*\bv=([A-Z0-9._%-]*)[&\w;=\+_\-]* http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...ded&v=video_id And when users enter such a URL with the default embed code, this link doesn't work because of the extra parameter before the "v". With the above code it works though. |

Just upgraded to 4.2 - Anyone know how do I fix all the threads now?
Do i have to go through every single one and edit them? |

Sorry for sounding like a n00b but I just installed this mod on my forum...
1) I don't know how to get my youtube videos to embed on my forum? 2) This mod seems complex... how can I optimize it? to a) not bog down my forum in the future and b) keep things running smoothly overall. Sorry I don't have time to read 110 pages! |

It's not complex, and was actually designed to run lighter than BBCode. But the default definitions are not up to date. My thread is linked in the add-on section above. They're not entirely up-to-date either, but the YouTube definition in that thread should still work just fine. You don't need to read the entire thread. But the first few posts of both The Geek's and my thread can be pretty helpful. My FAQ is also just a bit more current.

Thanks for the reply.... sorry for sounding like a n00b... I just don't wanna mess anything up.
My main reason for putting this on my forum is to embed youtube videos. All I need to do (after I install AME) is to upload your XML defintion in the settings and that will allow me to embed youtube videos? |

Import the XML using the AME CP in your Admin CP. You'll be presented with a big list of definitions, but there are two YouTube definitions (alphabetically) towards the bottom. Be sure to check my FAQ first for a list of common problems when doing that for the first time.
