This is a simple display of who is currently chatting in FlashChat - on the forum homepage display.

The main features of Version 4.xx are basically the same as previous versions ;

1. It displays the list on Forum Home with the "Users online" display.
2. The list view is collapsable, so you see just the number.
3. Users who should display as coloured or bold etc are displayed correctly (based on the display usergroup)
4. If you 'hover' over a username it will show the room they are chatting in and their status (away etc).
5. If the chat is empty, a simple "no one is chatting" message is displayed.
6. The hack is now phrased.
7. The ability to turn it on/off is in the ACP Forum Home Options.
8. The ability to allow only certain usergroups to view the list is an ACP option.
9. The location of the flashchat folder is now an ACP option (vBulletin Options > Forums Home Page Options).

Unzip the XML and import into vB using the ACP Product Manager.

To upgrade from version 4.10 onwards, you need to re-import the product with the overwrite option set to yes. To upgrade from version 4.02 to version 4.10 onwards, you need to uninstall the product and remove the template code in FORUMHOME - then upload the new product. To upgrade from version 3.xx to version 4.xx you need to delete the existing plugin and remove the template code in FORUMHOME - then upload the new product.

* An add-on to display a 'Most ever chatters' count is available here.

Note: This hack cannot display any bots in the chat, due to the strange way that flashchat stores this information. Please also note that I am not Tufat.com or anything to do with the Flashchat product - if you have questions about Flashchat in general, their forums are here.

History:

v4.10 : Removed the need to edit the FORUMHOME template.
v4.11 : Hyperlinked display icon to chat page. Added vb number formatting to count.
v4.12 : Added ALT tag to above hyperlink.
v4.13 : Updated ACP view permission option to take into account secondary groups.
v4.14 : Added 'nofollow' attribute to listed usernames.
v4.15 : Restricted list based on flashchat autologout parameter, to get round the issue of connections not being cleaned up.
v4.16 : Minor changes, no update necessary.
v4.17 : Added members status to hover information.
v4.18 : Re-wrote status code to take account of custom status definitions.

The CMS file goes in the flashchat /inc/cmses/ folder.

The error means you have not set the correct path (relative to your forum root) for your flashchat folder in the home page options, where is it located, what is it called.

ok, i replaced the vbcms file in the right place.

i edited the botton for the user groups.

then in vb options, home page display options

i put the path:
/home/httpd/vhosts/xxxx.com/httpdocs/forum/chat

i have also tried ( http://xxx..com/forum/chat )

is this correct?

i also she a spot on top of the vbcms for a path and have added it there and removed it and still no go.

Still the same error :ermm:

No. Neither is correct.

The path RELATIVE to your forum root, if your forums are in ...../http/forum and your chat is inside this ( ...../http/forum/chat ) then the setting is simply chat (which is the supplied default).

The current 3.0.x version is here (so yes, 2.30 is the latest version for it).

I'm sure you can, but you need the help of people who use the portal. I don't.

Hi Paul,

I'm running FlashChat v4.3.3 (which has been gradually upgraded from an old FC 3.X version) with your FC integration hack (version 2.45) on vB 3.5.0. I am running version 4.10 of this hack, which I upgraded from a previous version. Anyway, I have an occassional problem with the members in chat display on the ForumHome page, which may or may not be due to what you mentioned in the quoted text below.

When I enter the chat, my nickname is correctly displayed on ForumHome. Similarly, when I leave FC and it logs me out, ForumHome correctly displays that there are no chatters. However, sometimes there will be a single user that appears on ForumHome as a member in chat (before I enter). When I enter chat, that user appears in the FC list (in other words, the user's name appears on ForumHome AND in FC). However, when I log out of FC, the number of chatters on ForumHome becomes 0, meaning that the other chatter who was initially appearing on ForumHome before I entered chat is no longer listed. When I reenter FC, that user is not there, as he or she was when I initially entered FC. Additionally, I question whether or not the user was actually there when I first entered FC, even though the nickname appears on ForumHome and in FC, because your Most Ever Chatters hack (version 2.03) displays '1', even though FC shows me and the other user when I initially enter FC. If another user was truly in chat, and I enter, then that should obviously be 2. Any help on this is appreciated - hope that wasn't too confusing!

Boss

Always log out using the red (top right) logout button. If you just close the browser then flashchat will try and run a pop-up to log you out - but browsers other than IE (such as firefox) block this.

It is exactly due to what I posted. If the last person in the chat does no log out correctly, then they will remain in the database (as above). Flashchat can only clean-up expired connections when something runs it's code - this only happens if someone else enters the chat - so in the case above, the last person did not log out correctly, and the stuck entry was not cleaned out until you entered [later].

This doesn't affect the Socket Server mode, but most people do not / cannot run that mode.

That makes sense - thanks for the reply and hack.

Display Chatters!!!!! I've been scouring the FORUMHOME template for ages trying to find that little bugger. Might want to add that to the install instructions or somewhere more obvious than page 10 of this thread.

Great hack, thanks.

Is there a way to make " Members currently using Flashchat:" link into chat?

Go to: Style & Templates - Style Manager - Edit Templates - Display Chatters

Find:
Quote:
$chattersdesc $totalchatters
Replace with:
Quote:
Members currently using <a href="chat/flashchat.php" target="flashchat">Chat</a>: $totalchatters
