AME 2.5 - Media Embedding for posts, sigs, vm's, groups and blogs
Developer Last Online: Jan 2019
From the makers of the letters O and Yea comes the hottest 'must have mod' of the season: AME 2.5 - The Return of The Hot Mama.
Thanks everyone for making AME 2.5 Mod of the Month AME is the multi award winning modification that smartly scans new and edited posts for URLs from a customisable variety of web sites (i.e. YouTube or Amazon or about 200 others). If it finds a match, AME will 'transform' the URL into inline embedded media without your users ever having to even think about it. It was important for me to create a system that did not need updating (and subsequent reinstalling) every time one of the sites it supported decided to change the way it displayed its media (which is all the fricken time). Therefore I built a system in which the 'definitions' for each site could be imported, exported, tweaked and shared on a whim. This way, you only have to import the definitions that you want. It also allows the vB community to get creative and share definitions that I wouldn't of thought of! Which sites are supported? Included in the default installation is YouTube and Amazon. At time of posting this, I believe that there are over 180 sites supported that have been created by the vBulletin community. These range from sites that stream videos to Amazon referral links to locally hosted music and video files. Check out the 'add ons' section of this post below to see availible add-ons. For a total list of features and an FAQ, see click here. For a post on troubleshooting, click here. Though not tested on any version of vBulletin lower than 3.7.4, in theory it should work on versions 3.5 and higher (just dont quote this bit!). Big thanks goes out to all those in the community that have supported this mod. Especially Digital Jedi who gives great support on this mod and has created over 160 definitions for this system alone! I tried looking through all the posts in here and in DJ's thread, but I was unable to find an answer, so I decided to post my problem in both threads... I couldn't figure out if I have an AME problem, or a problem with the definitions.
I have had the AME 2.5 installed for a long time now (on VB 3.8.5) and in order for just the regular YouTube to convert, I must have "extract destination data" turned off in the main settings. Turned on, YouTube won't convert at all. I have tried to turn on the "extract desitination data" in the main settings, and turn it off on the YouTube definition itself, but it still won't work unless it's off in the main settings. Just today I decided to install DJ's definitions, and none of them will convert at all, with the Extract Destination Data turned on or off. I have tried at several different sites to be sure (ESPN.com, CBSNews.com, Hulu, Gamesopoly) and made sure that embedding was allowed on all links, still nothing will convert, just the URL gets posted. I assume it's me... I'm not the most proficient at all this. I did re-install AME 2.5, and did an overwrite of all files and xml, still to no avail. Any other info you need to help me, I would be glad to provide! Thanks. |

There isn't a setting for it in the general settings, from what I can see. ?? |

How long does the install typically take? Mine's been running for 15+ minutes now (4.7 million posts on my board) and, actually, on Chrome, my browser timed out so I don't know the current progress...

Something seems to have changed when trying to extract titles from YouTube videos in the past few days. Whenever AME generates a title for a YouTube video via "extract destination data" it includes HTML/character entities (Example YouTube Title: "YouTube- ‪'How to Train Your Dragon' Trailer HD‬‎") in the title text along with the video title. It is doing this for all YouTube video titles regardless of any characters in the YouTube video page title.
Did something change at YouTube? Anyone know a fix for this? |

There's a MegaVideo definition in my AME thread, avaiable in the Add-On section of the first post. However, I'm getting reports that I may need to update it.

The newest definition for YouTube is available in the add-on section. The default version is not up-to-date. Quote:
Install itself shouldn't take all that long. |

http://www.vbseo.com/f77/automatic-l...hem-now-44713/ Wonder if there is a way to fix this? Anyone know what the character entities translate to that YouTube is putting in their titles? ‪ and ‬‎ are what is being added to the beginning and end of every YouTube video title. |
