VB Login on a Non-VB Page vB3 RC3 · **Released**: 02-02-2004

This is a simple modification to do, and adds a lot of value to your homepage.

Notes:

1. This script can occassionally have conflicts with other javascripts. Test before you deploy.
2. If you use and include to put the file on your page, be sure that the chdir and the require for global.php is in the head of the main document.
3. It is assumed that you are using a php page, and that you have already got connectivity with your database.

Troubleshooting:

Before requesting support, please check the following:

1. Make sure you have the path to your forum in the chdir. If you haven't done this, you will get a "can't include" error.
2. Make sure you have the chdir in the main document. If it isn't you will get a "can't modify header" error.
3. If those don't resolve the issue, try putting the login in a separate file, with no other code. If it works there, then you will know that you have a conflict with one of the scripts on the page you are trying to add the login to. I can't help you if you've got a conflict with another script.

You forgot the closing quotes on the chdir.

ok thanks that worked i dont know how i missed that.

ok another problem

it dosent direct me to the forum i type in my user info click ok it takes me to the welcom Username screen then i click proceed and it takes me back to my logon script where it says Welcome back, Username! i want it to go to the forum after loging in

ok i would like to do this but i dont know if it is possible

i have installed the login script on my forum perfectly i want to make my own pages where they have to be logged in to the forum and if there not it will bring up a page like the vb error where it askes u to log in all the pages would be php included.

I noticed that too. The example code needs to be updated to include that missing quote.

i've encountered what appears to be a fairly common error, it logs in fine, but still displays the login box once logged in. I'm running 3.5 beta 4 at the moment, and my cookie dir is "/".

Anyone got any ideas?

okay, I've installed it, and have the avatar displaying the way I want it, but what can I add to display a default avatar if the user doesn't have an avatar?
