I'll believe it when I see it.

And to be honest, you should refund all of the money (Since I've already had your buggy product removed entirely from my site, and it took my comments on this thread to even get you to post a reply to my issues), but if the installation money is all you're shamed into refunding...so be it.

If you refund all of it, I'll be happy to post that update here on the boards. Like HellRazor said, it would show a good faith effort on your part to make things 'right'.

In the meantime, people reading this thread can make their own determination about whether or not you are a scammer, and whether or not to do business with you.

Hopefully the vB.org staff is also looking at how you conduct your business, and will make a determination as to whether or not you will be allowed to continue taking money from members.

I think it's time you two communicated directly, there is no need for you to continue to discuss this on the public forum, please take this to PM or e-mail now. Thanks.

I'd be happy to, but as as been documented, micheal332001 neither responds to emails or pm's.

That said, I'll refrain from directing any further communications to him on this thread.

(If it's ok, however, I'll post when/if he makes good on the refund. That would be the fair thing to do, imo)

I agree. The staff at vb.org has no way to determine who's lying or who's to blame in any disputed claim, so they can't pass judgement on either party in cases like this. But to merely jump in on these complaints threads with a quick reminder that they don't endorse anyone and are, therefore, not responsible for any of this is not true.

This site IS responsible for its part in setting people up to be taken advantage of by other disreputable members: It's the vb.org site, itself, that brings both parties together in the first place. New people come here looking for help with their projects because they trust Jelsoft and they trust its official .org hacking community -- and they are justified in believing that a reasonably active member in good standing within a highly regarded technical forum like this with years of involvement, lots of posts, lots of hacks released, and a fancy title ARE going to be reliable. The site allows us to show off this implied credibility in our profiles, our postbit details, and our signatures ... it allows our members to solicit each other here to conduct (private) business transactions ... it has devoted a special section all it's own to advertise/facilitate paid service requests ... and it lets anyone do as they please in this regard with no limits, no censure, and no recourse when these business transactions go badly.

To then make claim that vb.org has nothing to do with this, makes no guarantees, feels that a high majority of service requests must probably bring about happy results for everyone is just plain wrong.

I think this thread is stupid as it has nothing to do with vB.org or the staff members on this site. If you got a problem with him, then direct this to him in person and take it elsewhere. There is nothing much we or the staff of vB.org can do about it.

I agree, not only that but its scaring alot of people here, starting to make many think all coders will rip them off. Granted it got some to start digging into references and portfolio's but I think this thread has dragged on long enough.

I just wish this thread could stay on task about extremetim. The guy took money, and hasn't come back to respond here.

I too feel this isn't really a vb.org issue, but alot of the member's here aren't as experienced in coding as other's, and therefore you have people like extremetim exploiting that.

If there are other complaint's about other coder's, then maybe there should be a section for good experience's and bad experience's with coder's you have paid for services, and found from vb.org.

i feel as long as coders can solicit their services here at vb.org, then these types of problems ARE a vb.org issue... and should be told, noted, or whatever.

While I agree with the statement above that it's hard for vB.org to takes sides between two party's because they have no proof either way of who's right and wrong.

I think that alone says maybe vB.org should not be allowing a paid service on this site to avoid any further legal issues and go back to free hacks only. Because it's quite obvious members are not happy with the fact coders can come and offer a paid service with the intentions of ripping people off. Knowing that vB.org are going to stay neutral as in this case. I just can't see how you can allow this service to take place and then expect to not be dragged into things. Like in this case were this ExtremeTim guy is still allowed to come here while members want him banned to try and avoid him ripping anybody else off.

This thread case is a perfect example of why vB.org should bin the paid service idea and tell coders to use there own sites now to offer a paid service. And not allow them to punt for business here also! Maybe just allow them to use a signature link to there site.

All thats happening now is, people are getting ripped off and them coming back here complaining because this is the place they acquired the service from in the first place. So they want vB.org to get involved because they see it as they already are. It's doing nothing for this site but causing resentment towards it, due to lack of action being taken. And thats not good for this site.

Exactly!

On one of my sites, the members wanted to be able to post things for sale, but promised to only discuss sales via PM. I veto'd the idea because I would feel responsible (on some level) if a sale went bad... So some other members set up a board where they could buy, sell, and trade. To date, I haven't heard of any problems so I'm glad it's working for them.

Here at vB.org, I've only had the one bad experience posted above, but I've been around long enough to read of other misc problems. For vB.org, it's a sticky situation to be in, for sure.
