AME is the multi award winning modification that smartly scans new and edited posts for URLs from a customisable variety of web sites (i.e. YouTube or Amazon or about 200 others). If it finds a match, AME will 'transform' the URL into inline embedded media without your users ever having to even think about it.

It was important for me to create a system that did not need updating (and subsequent reinstalling) every time one of the sites it supported decided to change the way it displayed its media (which is all the fricken time). Therefore I built a system in which the 'definitions' for each site could be imported, exported, tweaked and shared on a whim. This way, you only have to import the definitions that you want. It also allows the vB community to get creative and share definitions that I wouldn't of thought of!

Which sites are supported?

Included in the default installation is YouTube and Amazon. At time of posting this, I believe that there are over 180 sites supported that have been created by the vBulletin community. These range from sites that stream videos to Amazon referral links to locally hosted music and video files.

Though not tested on any version of vBulletin lower than 3.7.4, in theory it should work on versions 3.5 and higher (just dont quote this bit!).

Installation/Upgrade

• Upload the contents of the forums folder into your forums directory and import the product-ame.xml file into your product manager (if upgrading, choose 'yes' to overwrite previous installation).
• After installation, make sure that the system is on (admincp->AME CP->Settings)
• Then you may want to try to rebuild old URLs via the tools option.

How do I convert all [media] tags originally created by Goldbrick? I uninstalled GB
and went to AME's tools > convert codes.

I put [media] in the codes box

It looks like this:

youtubevid, metacafe, ifilm, putfile, googlevid, myspacevid, media

now I get this:

You have entered a different amount of codes to conversions. They must match up!

I'm not sure how Goldbrick set's BBCode up. What did a typical Goldbrick block of BB Code look like? Was it just something like:

[MEDIA]H6IeASZZf1c[/MEDIA]

With that number being the ID of the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6IeASZZf1c.

Is that about right?

As for twitvid, I'd have to look at it. You can make a request at the link in my Add On thread.

when i did the move i dont think i paid attention to that setting no, but when i read here and looked at the ame cp settings i fixed the path of the folder since the cpanel user name had changed, then i set that to 777 and ran the resynch stuff but its not loading. i will try to reinstall it and see what happens.

ya its not loading the videos....no idea why its not..driving me crazy. when i click edit i see the youtube video in the edit area, if i click save it shows the video in the thread but if i dont save it its not showing the video

Patience. I'm trying to think of the proper way to process a single tag to a single tag. For one thing, you got the error message because you were trying to convert them improperly. Each entry in Code needed to have a corrosponding entry in Conversions. Just like they are in the default example entries. youtube for youtube, metacafe for metacafe, ect. But you only had a single instance of media BB Code. So I'm trying to find what the proper Conversions entry would be. All that really needs to happen is to change [media] to [ame]. I'm just not sure what you need to put in the Conversion box yet.
