v3 Arcade - Game Modification Guide & Releases
How v3 Games Work v3 Arcade games are a little different to those in the original Arcade and futureal's proArcade. Instead of a simple getURL which sends all of the variables to the next page, the v3 Arcade uses a completely different system - a series of sendAndLoad events where data is sent and received between the Flash file and vBulletin. As a result, converting games for the v3 Arcade is a little more complicated. To get games working with the v3 Arcade, a piece of code needs to be inserted which will run on every frame of the Flash movie. (I.e. one looped movieclip which is active across all frames.) A variable also needs to be set to tell the v3 Arcade code when to end the game. EDIT: INSTRUCTIONS UPDATED TO MAKE THE PROCESS A LOT EASIER! Converting Games Converting a game is quite simple, providing you have some basic knowledge of Flash. Step 1. Create a blank movie clip, containing two keyframes. Step 2. On frame 1 of this blank movieclip, insert this code (not forgetting to change the gamename value to something unique - THIS PRESUMES THAT _root.score CONTAINS THE SCORE VALUE!): Code:

It is in there somewhere. Posts have been made about it here at at v3arcade.com. I have not installed this one yet, so I cannot offer much more help there. @Die If you are running vB 3.5, you cannot run the individual installation scripts (yet). You will need to import the games through the AdminCP. Again, I have not installed this yet, but I know posts have been made at both places. @ijob I am testing my conversions of the Ice Age games now. Once confirmed as working (by the end of the day), I will release them. So far they look good. |

Attached is Ice Age 1: Scrat Jump. I have gone through it and it seems to play correctly throughout. If anyone sees any problems, please let me know. Note that this version allows the player to select level 1 (automatic air control) or level 2 (manual air control). This version can coexist with with the seperate level 1 and level 2 versions. |

The main SWF goes under the games folder. Under the games folder, create a folder called v3IceAge2_data. Under that folder, upload the sound file. Create a folder under that called xml. Upload the xml file there.
