Advanced @User Tagging Mod: What is it?
DragonByte Technologies is proud to present [DBTech] Advanced @User Tagging. This version introduces several major new features that users have requested, and some others we were unable to fit in v1.0. The @user Tagging mod is designed to increase activity on your forum by allowing members to mention each other in posts when talking about them. This is done in a very easy way, very similar to how Twitter mentions people. We use @ ; as the tags, so for instance you could say: ---- This new mod from @Dragonbyte Tech; is pretty cool. ---- The ?@DragonByte Tech;? Will become a link to the DragonByte Tech users profile, it will also inform DragonByte Tech they had been mentioned, and link to the relevant thread/post via a new area in the profile section, as well as a new tab in the shoutbox. It also allows members to ?tag? the thread for specific other members by inputting their usernames in the tag box above the posts of the thread. This is a great way to increase your forum activity with no extra admin input required ? people will start to mention posts/threads to their friends, which will increase the amount of posting. This is especially useful of forums which have an international contingent (so threads posted in during the night for some of your members don't go overlooked) or forums which have a lot of posts/threads each day ? again to make sure that a post a person might want to read doesn't get lost in the crowd. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you like this mod please hit the button to the right ----> Please remember to click the, button to the right if you installed the mod ----> What does 'Marking As Installed' do ? * It helps you to stay on top of updates - members who have installed modifications will be notified by us whenever new updates are available. * For security issues - vbulletin.org will contact all members who have installed a modification whenever a security issue is brought to their attention. * Marking a modification as installed also helps us know how many people are using our work, giving us extra incentive to provide more features and new modifications. We appreciate the support! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Priority support & Product Demos available at: http://www.dragonbyte-tech.com/forum.php ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Translations available @ Support for translations handled by the translator in its respective threads only. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Major Features Twitter-style @ "Mentions": Typing @username produces a "Mention" that will alert the user to your post, as well as link to their profile. Quote Alerts: Members you quote will be alerted, ensuring that discussions can continue smoothly even if they left the thread. Profile Integration: Displays Mentions, Tags and Quotes in profile tabs for quick overview of a member's activities within the mod. Complete Feature List Lite Emails:

Thanks for your attention to this. It seems maybe a ugroup on/off permission is suitable since its a basic control? I logically went to look there and didn't see any attributes for that.

by tag spamming resulting in useless tags. one particular member was banned. He learnt to clear his cookies and come back an copy pasted hundreds of member names in countless threads.

I will try to explain a bit better (should have at the start :P) I have removed the Thread Tagging box that was displayed above threads basically disabling thread tagging, since thread tagging has been removed there is no way for members to tag users to threads therefore the notification text that says Tagged in Threads etc is no longer required. I just want to remove it from _appearing_ to the user but can't figure out what template to edit to remove those Tagging headings from showing up? P.S - Great Mod mate very nice. |

Never mind - I like the mod so much the extra features in the Pro version are exactly what I need (wasn't aware of a pay version lol).
Thanks DragonByte. |

Hey Fillip, I hope you don't mind the bump, which is only to provide some more feedback after I took a more comprehensive look at your plugin. I made sure I understood the differences to the Pro version as well, to see that I'm hopefully not being redundant. Meaning if you have something in the Pro version that matches my feedback list, then duhh, its not applicable. Please review at your convenience to see if anything is reasonable to implement or even feasible. Perhaps others can weigh in on this as well. If I have made a redundant comment, do please make that clear of my mistake. User Tagging -- 1. Unregistered/Guests have access to this feature. Disallow by default. 2. Provide for Ugroup on/off use of mod in ACP. To allow/disallow access for User Tagging. 3. This utilizing the same auto-username finder of vB? 4. Thread Tags Profile Tab should only appear IF user tagging is enabled. 5. Thread Tags Profile Tab should have a per User Privacy Setting. This is for each User to set for themselves. (e.g., only Registered Members see the content of Thread Tags Profile Tab.) 6. ACP option to enable/disable the postbit information. User Mentioning 1. Provide for Ugroup on/off use of mod in ACP. To allow/disallow access for User Mentioning. 2. Mentions Profile Tab should only appear IF user mentioning is enabled. 3. Mentions Profile Tab should have a per User Privacy Setting. This is for each User to set for themselves. (e.g., only Registered Members see the content of Mentions Profile Tab.) 4. ACP option to enable/disable the postbit information. Thanks and look forward to your reply. |

I had an idea. Would it be possible for the script to automatically Mention a user when someone quotes their post?
Example of a normal quote
Would it be possible to somehow make it
without breaking the Quote box? Thanks! |

I'd be interested to see if this mod has helped in increasing the activity on your sites. I'm still trying to see how this would benefit our users.
