Last Read Problem - need solution

Anyone know a solution for this?

If I have not been on for a while, there are obviously a lot of new posts for me to read. If I start reading and clear all posts that I have not read, everything is fine. But if I get interrupted, or just don't have time to read all of the unread posts and log off, the next time I log on only the posts from the last logon are marked new, and I have lost the unread posts from a previous visit. Is there a setting I need to make new posts remain new until I read them?
