There would be no use in such a thing as the user can always delete the cookies set by your site

That won't prevent them from signing out. They can simply, as Loukrhtia said, delete the cookie manually.

I know, but you've got to remember that some people don't think about cookies. They just go for the log out button.

Yes, this is right.

Since some users do not have good knowlage to use the computer, they don't think about cookies as peterska2 said.

I used a hack before for vB3.0.7 and it works good for me actually.

There is no much use in a template mod, cause there is still a log out button in many places... Use my hack instead: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=99547 ... of course, it doesn't prevent from cookies deletion either.
