Allow filesystem attachments even in Safemode
My server runs in safemode. This means that 3.5 attachments have to use the database, not the filesystem. However, we often have large attachments which are over MySQL packet size and cause errors.
So, I'd like to be able to use the filesystem. I'm willing to take a small security or efficiency hit to do this. I've opened a ticket with VB, and the response was 'use the database'. As I've said both here and there that's not an option. The other solution on the VB forums is to move to a dedicated server where you can turn safemode off - I'm not about to do that yet. I'm sure the current set up is fine for the vast majority of forums, but I, and I think a few others, need a bit more flexibility here. Any ideas how it could be done? Roddy |

Will give this a single bump and then give up. Thanks in advance for any help.

I am running (on a dedicated server) also safemode with attachments in the filesystem. This should not be a showstopper.
PM me details about config and i will try to help. |
