vb header on external php app? possible?

Hi, I have a little php weblinks directory that allows me to modify it's design by templates. I am wanting to have the vb header and footer appear on this app. Let's say the weblinks app have ann index.php & index.template ..... what would I need to put in the index.php file so that I can call the vb header and footer by placing $header$navbar$footer Is this possible? I don't know much about coding but if someone can point me in the right direction I may be able to fudge it. Thanks!!
