Make a usergroup. Choose the option 'is public (joinable) usergroup' and then it's made. People can join from their usercp groups section, it's up to you what you allow that group to do.
There's moderated joining of the group which is more complex. |

OH, thanks
your all so helpful!!! P.S, i had 2 punds of bacon and 3 eggs how do u make it so that the users can only join 1 usergroup? and that the group leader, has 2 accept them? they cant freely join |

As soon as you assign a Groupleader, the join request are moderated (need to be accepted by the groupleader).
AFAIK there is no standard function to allow only 1 group. |
