look atr the attached image, how on earth is this done, is it just a seperate page or what,

Since I cant think of the code right now, I would suggest working with Mashby's hack(here)

Edit: Also, vBT's front page is worked on using php portal(I think)

vBPortal I believe. There's also vBIndex which is also good. They can both be found at www.vbulletin.org .
