My next release (User Forum Controls) today!
1. Do you want save bandwidth?
2. Do you want to give your users more viewing controls! Then this will achieve both.... Extra querys (-1) for display.. On the forum home you can remove one query using this control User configuration uses (1 query) What does this do... Forum controls allows you the administrator to configure display rules for users. (based on groups) The rules allow users the ability to display the forum their way... Rules... can or can not move a category (UP/DOWN) can or can not hide a category can or can not move a forum (UP/DOWN) can or can not hide a forum This is not collapsing forums or categories, this is removing them permanently from view! The controls are easy to manage so the changes can be done very fast. The admin control allows for the administrator to control exactly what can be done! Admin Rules... 1. Categories that can not be moved are pushed to the top of the forum display. 2. Forums that can not be moved are pushed to the top of the category display they live in. rules are based per forum, category rules override child forum rules, subforum categories rules override their children! Why this control.... Many times forums have many categories that are never viewed by members because they only post in maybe one or two forums. So what is the sense to show them 20 categories and 100 forums if they will never view them. Then many times a forum or category that a user is posting to is way down the bottom of the forum home display, it makes for browsing your forum a waste of time. This control solves this by allowing the user to move their favorite categories or forums to the top of the display or hide categories and forums they never view! Attached is an admin panel image of how you congifure the control. I am in the process of putting a forum demo up, but I figured I would show you how the control will work.... simple demo here... http://24.91.149.80/display.php This will be released in the beta section sometime today! I'll put a real forum demo up when I release this... c, ya... Sonia |

start / What I wrote yesterday... I have everything else done, I am just trying to make some images for the user interface. The ones in my demo just do not match the default vB style very well. First they are to big and the look funny. The user interface has a mock forum display so it's important that the images match the display. It's seems this is always the hardest thing for me to do, maybe I need to get with someone that can do the layouts while I focus on the coding. I know I am rambling sorry! Anyway do you have any idea's for the images (cat => up and down, forums => up and down, hide => hide and unhide) end / what I wrote yesterday... Ok so I give up on doing anymore work to the user interface in regards to IMAGES, I think it looks fine now (see attached image). Anyone can change the images to the images they would like to use via the templates. I am going to start packaging this mod up now so I figure I will be posting it sometime today! I will be adding (1) more option for the Admin Panel ( where the interface can be accessed), but I don't have time to do that right now, as I got to release (2) other updates today. I promise today, but I don't know for sure the time! Sonia |
