ok i can't remember what thread but it was that long ago jelsoftmight've changed their mind but i remember reading about how having twocontrol panel's (modcp & admincp) didn't really make sense as theycould do everything in one with conditionals and what not, so i'mwondering how long do you think until we see somethign like this?
whats the big deal lol if yor an admin use the admin mods will only get the mod no big deal. just use a conditional for the mod one only to showup if X usegroup is selected or X user group is selected. Then u wont even know its there.

This has come up before. Using template conditionals to not show modcp menus is useless(unless supported with php). Anyone can then just navagate to the menu they want by hand.

you are wrong, with usergroup permission it's not only about hidding it, the links aren't there, even you try that link by typing you will only get the no permission. If vb isn't like this then guest can be superadmin.
and about the dual control panel, it's really necessary. I got one good reason: in one board there can be 100 mods but only 10 admin, so that's it you can control all of your admin but it's almost impossible to mess with 100 guys, and the reason is the link to your ACP is hidden for everyone exclude admins so if you use only one CP then those mods could just make a mistake showing that link to some bad guys. There're more, this just my 2cent
For security reasons, it's best to separate the directories for each control panel, and best to password protect the admin directory too using .htaccess.

I forgot to password it using .htaccess, have planned it for months, thanks for reminding me T_T
