Hi, I'm looking to use vBadvanced on my forum, but have a problem... I notice the way it's currently set-up is that it's recomended that the forum be placed in a directory called 'forum', and that the vBa index file goes into the root directory...

What I'm looking to do is have both in the same directory, with the forum's index being renamed forum.php (using the vB options), with the vBa file being called index.php...

Now I realise this is not hard or anything, and I can do this... but will all the links and everything within the vBa system still work? or will they all be looking for a dirctory called 'forum'

thank you.

Yes it will work just fine. the vBa module is called into the index file that they give you in the download package.

I have mine in the same dir: http://www.thekryptonian.com/index.php - http://www.thekryptonian.com/forum.php

Thank you.. I assume I just need to comment out/delete the chdir() line from the vBa index.php file?

(Cool looking site btw)

id like to keep these seprate like they are now, the forum is private and want to keep it that way, can i do this? or do i need to get another site if i want to do this?

So you're saying you want to have your main site index, then have a site index for vB using vBa? You could do one of two things:

1.) you can place the vBadvanced index in your forums folder and change your forums index name to forum.php (and update the script name in your admin cp)

2.) you could use the vBadvanced index as your main index but choose in the vBadvanced admin options choose to only allow members to see the forum content.

Hope this helps
