Okay. You want to call the navbar template. you do that by putting $navbar at the bottom of the page.

*But* you get the navbar, the breadcrumb and the welcome box. I cut the welcome box out of the navbar template and put it elsewhere, so I get the breadcrumb and the navbar both top and bottom.

The drop-down menus don't work in the bottom navbar--I still have to fix that.

Nope, having the navbar at the bottom *isn't* a bad thing--I miss it here. Having the welcome box repeated at the bottom looked silly-- that's one of the reasons I moved it.

Okay. Inside the navbar template, look for the following:
HTML Code:
	<if condition="$bbuserinfo['userid']">

		<td class="alt2" valign="top" nowrap="nowrap">
		<div class="smallfont">
			<!--<span style="float:$stylevar[right]">[<a href="login.php?$session[sessionurl]do=logout&amp;u=$bbuserinfo[userid]" onclick="return log_out()">$vbphrase[log_out]</a>]</span>-->
			<strong><phrase 1="$bbuserinfo[username]">$vbphrase[welcome_x]</phrase></strong><br />
			<phrase 1="$pmbox[lastvisitdate]" 2="$pmbox[lastvisittime]">$vbphrase[last_visited_x_at_y]</phrase>
			<if condition="$show['pmstats']"><br /><phrase 1="$vbphrase[unread_x_nav_compiled]" 2="$vbphrase[total_x_nav_compiled]" 3="$session[sessionurl]">$vbphrase[private_messages_nav]</phrase></if>
		</div>
		</td>

	<else />

		<td class="alt2" nowrap="nowrap" style="padding:0px">

		<!-- login form -->
		<form action="login.php" method="post" onsubmit="md5hash(vb_login_password,vb_login_md5password,vb_login_md5password_utf)">
		<script type="text/javascript" src="clientscript/vbulletin_md5.js"></script>
		<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="$stylevar[formspacer]" border="0">
		<tr>
			<td class="smallfont">$vbphrase[username]</td>
			<td><input type="text" class="button" name="vb_login_username" id="navbar_username" size="10" accesskey="u" tabindex="1" value="$vbphrase[username]" onfocus="if (this.value == '$vbphrase[username]') this.value = '';" /></td>
			<td class="smallfont" colspan="2" nowrap="nowrap"><label for="cb_cookieuser_navbar"><input type="checkbox" name="cookieuser" value="1" tabindex="3" id="cb_cookieuser_navbar" accesskey="c" checked="checked" />$vbphrase[remember_me]</label></td>
		</tr>
		<tr>
			<td class="smallfont">$vbphrase[password]</td>
			<td><input type="password" class="button" name="vb_login_password" size="10" accesskey="p" tabindex="2" /></td>
			<td><input type="submit" class="button" value="$vbphrase[log_in]" tabindex="4" title="$vbphrase[enter_username_to_login_or_register]" accesskey="s" /></td>
		</tr>
		</table>
		<input type="hidden" name="s" value="$session[sessionhash]" />
		<input type="hidden" name="do" value="login" />
		<input type="hidden" name="forceredirect" value="1" />
		<input type="hidden" name="vb_login_md5password" />
		<input type="hidden" name="vb_login_md5password_utf" />
		</form>
		<!-- / login form -->

		</td>

	</if>
This is the code that creates the box that holds the welcome message an private message display, or a log-in form.

You can cut it out of the navbar template, but you must figure out another place to put it--You could paste it into the header--but you don't want to eliminate it.

I don't think modifying a template or two qualifies for "hack" status.

Okay..

I don't know what you want your forum to look like. As you visualize your site, where do you think the welcome/login box should go? Do you want it in the header? would you like it at the bottom of the page?

If you can figure out where on the page you think it should be, I can probably tell you how to get it there.
